80s Toons tumbler RSS

Still a scheduled weekly posting of 80s cartoons, I do have a good enough number of cartoon videos to find that will keep the blog occupied for a while. The 80s was a time when cartoons really exploded on television, and the first time large corporations took advantage of impressionable kids and parents with the money to make extended cartoon commercials.

Also a time when cartoons started getting outsourced from the United States to places like Japan and Korea in full effect, to varying degrees of success. Hindsight does show how horrible many of these cartoons were, technically for looking bad and unrealistic, and also just bad stories and characters. Even the ones that were supposed to teach moral lessons really didn't. And do you remember the insane witchhunt to bring down overly 'violent' cartoons for inciting children to violence?

In spite of all this, it was definitely a golden age of cartoons, or maybe silver age, I may have to lookup some animator blog. So many great cartoons and characters came out of all of it, and people and things that did teach you some things. After all, knowing is half the battle.

Jem & the Holograms - Beat This

Yeah, beat that.

OIh yeah, for those who didn’t catch on, the guy and girl are competing to be the Holograms’ drummer. Seriously, what’s he thinking?

On a side note, I’m proud of a certain blog post I made on my Multiply/crossposted to my Blogger, proud enough to put it here. It’s about the Red Horse Super X Series closing leg BMX competition/concert series.

Jem and the Holograms cover Le Tigre’s Deceptacon! If they were a real band, this would be the kind of song they’d play.

Well, a friend disagreed, but maybe if they remade it they should get the Le Tigre/Bikini Kill girls to do the songs. Although if it actually does happen, it’s more likely we’ll get the songs from Paramore and Avril Lavigne. But hey, if you haven’t ever seen the original video, check it out here.

And no, no Soundwave cameos. In either video. Still too bad.

Gimme A Gimmick, by The Misfits! Jem’s main antagonists got real good music written for them.

Nowadays, Britney and Paris hum this song in their heads, while thinking up of more shameful behavior that would get them attention.

Phew! All Apologies for forgetting posts. Guess I’ve been neglecting the blog awhile, and just when I was starting what was gonna be an awesome Jemorama! or something or other. Seems may be having problems getting videos as Hasbro is lazily but definitely defending their copyrights on it, and bit by bit video come up and get removed.

Nothing to worry about, it’s Only The Beginning.

 Jem intro !

real life has been getting me down recently, but it’s OK. It’s been OK since the day I found Jem. Because you know, she’s truly, truly outrageous. Expect a lot of Jem (i.e., I’ll try to get everything) in this space soon! Showtime, Synergy!
